my favorite coffee shop in downtown las vegas | makers & finders

As a Vegas local, I have the ability to spread my hard-earned knowledge of the city’s landscape beyond the four mile gem that is the The Strip. We have so many cute, unknown places to visit, photograph and consume food.

I’m currently in the middle of the second week of my January Whole30 and having some major coffee shop withdrawals. So this post is giving me major cravings, FOMO, etc. HOWEVER! We will continue on and discuss some GOOD, LOCAL coffee!

Today I’m talking about Makers & Finders, a cute little coffee shop and Latin restaurant located on Main Street in Downtown Las Vegas. (They recently opened a second location in Downtown Summerlin.) A ten minute drive will bring you to a currently under-construction Main Street, but trust me when I tell you, it’s well-worth the hassle.

From the food and beverage offerings to the atmosphere, it’s a great place to grab a coffee and chill on the patio in the springtime. Or enjoy a meal in the intimate dining area and at the bar inside! I personally love sitting outside on the patio and working while watching the world go by. And believe me when I tell you, Downtown Las Vegas is a WEIRD world haha.

“it’s good to be here”

First up: COFFEE!!!!

I love trying new coffee drinks and I usually ask the barista what they recommend. On my first trip to Makers, the barista recommended the Coconut Turmeric Latte and truthfully it’s the only drink I’ve tried since. I get mine with almond milk and I am obsessed with the flavor combination. The slightly sweet coconut and spicy turmeric make this drink unique and quite enjoyable.

A Google search will tell you that the Lavender Infused Latte is also a favorite, house made lavender syrup can be found in this drink. Other coffee highlights include the Mexican Spiced Latte, Salted Caramel Latte and the Honey Vanilla Latte. They also feature a tea bar, matcha bar and kids bar – so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Now, let’s talk about the food! They feature a breakfast and lunch menu plus brunch offerings on Sundays. As a Latin-focused establishment, you will find lots of inspired and appropriately flavored dishes.

For breakfast, I love the Breakfast Bagel. It’s a traditional breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheddar, peppered bacon and white avocado cream cheese. Yes, I ate dairy for this and it was well worth the pain. (I’m slightly lactose intolerant for those who don’t know.) The dish was served with a plantain chip, which was a pleasant surprise and really complemented my meal.

For lunch, the menu offers a variety of items including vegetarian and vegan dishes, salads, sandwiches and “Latin  Comfort” food such as Garlic Lime Chicken and a Sofrito Burger that features “crispy potato, mozzarella, peppered bacon, fried egg, pink sauce.”

Makers & Finders is such a great chill place to eat, socialize and even get some work done. I can’t wait until it warms up (and Whole30 is over) so I can head downtown to get my latte and hang out on the patio. It’s one of the great gems that is hidden in Downtown Las Vegas.
