It’s been a while Team – about four weeks to be exact. And obviously I haven’t posted ANYTHING. Not a damn thing.
Unfortunately, I also didn’t run for the first three weeks of June. Yup, I am training for a full-on marathon and I didn’t run until last week on Tuesday the 20th. Oy vey.
However, instead of kicking myself and dwelling on the fact that my first three weeks of progress were significantly discounted, I had to forgive myself and pick up from where I left off.
You see, sometimes life happens. Let’s break it down:
June Week #1 – frantically getting ready for Bonnaroo, EDC and my parentals were in town. Whoo. Lots of stress, but LOTS of whoo!
June Week #2 – Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee! (posts/playlist to follow)
June Week #3 – EDC in Las Vegas! (Pod all about the disaster/playlist to follow)
So…sometimes life happens and sometimes you just have to let it!
The thing is, I’m not the kind of person that is going to give up their life for one thing because my life is a whole cornucopia of things: work, yoga, friends, writing, shows and whatever new idea/hobby that catches my eye.
So when the opportunity comes up to see my parents and brother and then go to two music festivals in the following two weeks, I should probably take it. This is what life is about. In fact, I read the following quote yesterday morning:
“Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit.” – Frank Borman
If we force ourselves to stay stuck in our routine all the time, what’s the point??
This time for exploration and adventure is exactly why I keep myself so focused when I’m here at home in Vegas. By staying motivated and keeping with the plan while there aren’t grand adventures happening, it allows me to veer off the beaten path and easily return.
Now, three weeks off is a TON. Running last week was NOT easy, even though my brain and my spirit were excited for it, my body was certainly out of practice. So, again, I had to have patience with myself and forgive myself for not being up to speed. (Justin Bieber was only partially right when he said “Love Yourself” because it starts with forgiveness of self. Which I discuss HERE.)
I did it though, mostly. I powered through most of my scheduled runs, stopping short only once since the sun came out and I’m not trying to run through Satan’s asshole aka the Las Vegas heat as of late. I worked on detoxing my body of all the salt and alcohol I’ve been consuming for the last three weeks. Yesterday, I gave myself a break and slept in because my body told me it was something I needed to do.
Thanks to all of these things, I’m feeling so motivated and EXCITED to run this week. I’ve been working on my playlist and making sure my water intake is where it needs to be (again, VEGAS IS HOT RIGHT NOW – 119? NO THANKS.)
Here’s to taking some time off to explore, learn, grow, dance and spend time with some of my favorite people! I’m excited to work on this blog and see where we can take it. Thanks for everyone who has been patient and supportive : )
Happy Monday Y’all!
